Dear Friends of the Kokomo Rescue Mission,

The Kokomo Rescue Mission is working with a new mission statement this year:

The Kokomo Rescue Mission exists to proclaim the Good News and demonstrate the compassion of Jesus Christ to the homeless, hungry, and hurting of North Central Indiana.

The new statement helps us sharpen the focus of our mission in several ways:

1) Our previous statement spoke of ministering the love of Jesus Christ. In the new statement we “proclaim” the Good News. We want it to be clear that while we are ministering love and compassion, we are “proclaiming” that ultimately real help comes with the transforming power of the gospel. We want that always to be before us.

2) Our previous statement spoke about ministering to the “whole person.” Our present statement indicates that our specific burden is to the “homeless, the hungry, and the hurting.”   That has always been, and will continue to be, what we are about.

3) Our present statement indicates that our ministry is to a wider area than just the city of Kokomo. We more and more are reaching out into the counties around Kokomo. We specifically serve a six-county area: Howard, Miami, Cass, Carroll, Clinton, and Tipton. This is our charge.

We appreciate all who stand with us and support us in this ministry.   In our most recent fiscal year the mission received for ministry, funds and contributions totaling $2,888,357. Of this amount $1,943,958 was in cash; the rest was in-kind (food, clothing, furniture, etc.).  The real measure of the ministry, however, is not in what was received but in what was given away.   And this cannot be measured in funds but in such intangibles as hope restored, lives changed, and faith restored. Only God can keep an accurate record of such things, but the testimonies of those served and the evidence of lives touched give us assurance that God is blessing the ministry.

Thank you for standing with us.
